Auf Widerst@nd

February 2000: after almost two decades of social-democratic rule, Austria has an all-out right-wing government with the tendentious and reactionary Freedom Party entering the corridors of power.

In a country accustomed to laisser-faire consensus, a generation awakens to political emancipation and mobilises to put continuing pressure on this controversial alliance between christian democrats and xenophobic nationalists.

"Auf Widerst@nd" follows seven resistance initiatives on their respective endeavours to shake up public awareness. Given Austria's unresolved fascist past, the emotional fervour of the activists' involvement and discourse is that much more heightened.
